RIFOR credentials exist to document a verified research membership. They do not transfer the authority of a university, funder, publisher, regulator, or ethics board.

Scope of affiliation
That the affiliation is an independent research membership, with no implication of employment, degree status, accreditation, or external endorsement.
Record integrity
Confirmations include a reference number and membership dates. A recipient can request verification at info@rifor.org; private details are disclosed only with the member’s permission. Public self-service verification is not yet available.
Corrections and revocation
That material inaccuracies, expired memberships, or misuse can lead to correction, suspension, or revocation.

Status check: contact info@rifor.org with the reference. We confirm whether a record is active, expired or revoked, subject to the member’s disclosure permission.

This is example wording for an active member. Use the wording agreed at onboarding and follow the receiving publication’s requirements.
Members should use the exact affiliation wording supplied during onboarding and only while the membership is active. If a publication needs further clarification, the member should disclose the independent nature of the membership where relevant.
